About Presidency University
A Historic Institution of Learning
Presidency University, Kolkata, originally established as Hindu College in 1817, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in India. Located in the heart of Kolkata, West Bengal, the university has been a cradle of intellectual thought and academic excellence for over two centuries.
The institution was renamed Presidency College in 1855 and eventually attained university status in 2010. Throughout its illustrious history, Presidency has produced numerous distinguished alumni including Nobel laureates, scientists, writers, and political leaders who have shaped the course of Indian history and global academia.

Admissions 2024
Application Process
Online Registration
Submit your application through our online portal with required documents. Registration period: January 15 - March 31, 2024.
Entrance Examination
Appear for the Presidency University Admission Test (PUAT) scheduled in April 2024. Exam centers available across India.
Interview & Counseling
Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview and counseling sessions in May 2024.
Final Admission
Selected candidates must complete admission formalities and fee payment by June 30, 2024.
Admission Requirements
- Minimum 75% marks in 10+2 examination from recognized board
- Valid score in Presidency University Admission Test (PUAT) or other recognized national tests
- For international students: Equivalent qualification with English proficiency certificate
- Reservation policy as per Government of West Bengal norms
